The purpose of this bill is to authorize the State Board of Education to implement a two year county pilot program to change the school week from five eight-hour instructional days to four ten-hour instructional days subject to compliance with §18-5-45 of the code which requires the board to hold at least two public meetings that allow parents, teachers, teacher organizations, businesses, and other interested parties within the county to discuss the school calendar.
