FOR AN ACT ENTITLED
"An Act requiring the Board of Fisheries to prioritize personal use fisheries when 1
implementing fishing restrictions to achieve a management goal." 2
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 3
* Section 1. AS 16.05.251 is amended by adding a new subsection to read: 4
(j) Except as provided in AS 16.05.258, when the harvest of a stock or species 5
is limited to achieve a management goal, the Board of Fisheries shall place restrictions 6
on all other fisheries before restricting personal use fisheries. In this subsection, 7
"management goal" means the escapement or estimated population size of the 8
exploited stock that provides the greatest potential for sustained yield as established by 9
the board. 10
