"An Act relating to free breakfast and lunch in public schools." 1
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 2
* Section 1. AS 14.17 is amended by adding a new section to article 1 to read: 3
Sec. 14.17.495. Free breakfast and lunch in public schools. Subject to 4
appropriation, and in addition to the state aid received under this chapter, the 5
department shall provide to a district sufficient funding to allow the district to provide 6
breakfast and lunch to any student in the district who requests the meal, at no cost to 7
the student. The department shall maximize the state's receipt of federal financial 8
assistance that may be available for providing breakfast and lunch to students. 9
