8	Relating to crimes and offenses; to create the crime
9 of misrepresenting the police jurisdiction of a municipality;
10 to establish penalties for violations; and in connection
11 therewith would have as its purpose or effect the requirement
12 of a new or increased expenditure of local funds within the
13 meaning of Amendment 621 of the Constitution of Alabama of
14 1901, as amended by Amendment 890, now appearing as Section
15 111.05 of the Official Recompilation of the Constitution of
16 Alabama of 1901, as amended.
17 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
18	Section 1. (a)(1) A person commits the crime of
19 misrepresenting the police jurisdiction of a municipality if
20 he or she knowingly misrepresents, by use of a sign, marker,
21 or other marking, the police jurisdiction of a municipality.
22	(2) A public official shall be guilty of a violation
23 of this section if he or she instructs another person to
24 misrepresent the police jurisdiction of a municipality with
25 knowledge of the true boundary of the municipality.
26	(b) Misrepresenting the police jurisdiction of a
27 municipality is a Class A misdemeanor.
Page 1 1	Section 2. Although this bill would have as its
2 purpose or effect the requirement of a new or increased
3 expenditure of local funds, the bill is excluded from further
4 requirements and application under Amendment 621, as amended
5 by Amendment 890, now appearing as Section 111.05 of the
6 Official Recompilation of the Constitution of Alabama of 1901,
7 as amended, because the bill defines a new crime or amends the
8 definition of an existing crime.
9	Section 3. This act shall become effective
10 immediately following its passage and approval by the
11 Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
