13	Relating to the City of Scottsboro in Jackson
14 County; to extend the terms of office of the Mayor of the City
15 of Scottsboro, the members of the City Council of the City of
16 Scottsboro, and the members of the Scottsboro City Board of
17 Education for the purpose of revising the election dates for
18 the general municipal election in the city.
19 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
20	Section 1. This act shall apply only to the City of
21 Scottsboro in Jackson County.
22	Section 2. The term of office of the Mayor of the
23 City of Scottsboro set to expire in 2024 and the terms of
24 office of the members of the City Council of the City of
25 Scottsboro set to expire in 2024 shall be extended by one
26 additional year to expire in 2025. A successor to the Office
27 of Mayor and successors to the offices of members of the city
Page 1 1 council whose terms expire in 2025, shall be elected at a
2 general municipal election to be held on the fourth Tuesday in
3 August 2025, and every four years thereafter.
4	Section 3. The terms of office of the members of the
5 City Council of the City of Scottsboro to be elected at the
6 general municipal election in 2022 shall be extended by one
7 additional year to expire in 2027. Successors to the offices
8 of members of the city council whose terms expire in 2027,
9 shall be elected at the general municipal election to be held
10 on the fourth Tuesday in August 2027, and every four years
11 thereafter.
12	Section 4. The terms of office of members of the
13 Scottsboro City Board of Education to be elected at the
14 general municipal election in 2022 shall be extended by one
15 additional year to expire in 2029. Successors to the offices
16 of members of the city board of education whose terms expire
17 in 2029 shall be elected at the general municipal election to
18 be held on the fourth Tuesday in August 2029, and every six
19 years thereafter.
20	Section 5. The terms of office of members of the
21 Scottsboro City Board of Education set to expire in either
22 2024 or 2026 shall be extended by one additional year to
23 expire in either 2025 or 2027, respectively. Successors to the
24 offices of members of the city board of education shall be
25 elected at the fourth Tuesday in either August in 2025 or
26 2027, in the year the term of the member expires, and every
27 six years thereafter.
Page 2 1	Section 6. After the effective date of this act, if
2 no candidate for mayor, member of the city council, or member
3 of the city board of education receives a majority of votes
4 cast in the regular municipal election, a second or run-off
5 election shall be held on the fourth Tuesday following the
6 regular election.
7	Section 7. All laws or parts of laws which conflict
8 with this act are repealed.
9	Section 8. This act shall become effective
10 immediately following its passage and approval by the
11 Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
