8 SYNOPSIS:         Under existing law, no person may campaign
9	within 30 feet of the door of the building of a
10	polling place.
11	This bill would clarify the point from which
12	the 30 feet should be measured.

15	TO BE ENTITLED
16	AN ACT
17 
18	Relating to voting; to amend Section 17-9-50, Code
19 of Alabama 1975, to clarify the point from which the 30 feet
20 should be measured.
21 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
22	Section 1. Section 17-9-50, Code of Alabama 1975, is
23 amended to read as follows:
24	"ยง17-9-50.
25	"Except as electors and individuals to assist them
26 are admitted to vote and persons to assist them as herein
27 provided, and except for the judge of probate, the sheriff, or
Page 1 1 his or her deputy, the precinct election officials, and
2 watchers, no person individual shall be permitted within 30
3 feet of the door of the building of the polling place. For
4 purposes of this section, 30 feet shall be measured from the
5 exterior door or doors of the building in which voting
6 machines are located and which voters are allowed to use as
7 the ingress and egress to the voting area."
8	Section 2. This act shall become effective on the
9 first day of the third month following its passage and
10 approval by the Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
