13 Relating to Cullman County; to amend Section
14 45-22-60 of the Code of Alabama 1975; and to provide for the
15 annual salary and other benefits for the Coroner of Cullman
16 County.
17 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
18 Section 1. Section 45-22-60 of the Code of Alabama
19 1975, is amended to read as follows:
20 "ยง45-22-60.
21 "(a) Effective for the term of office beginning
22 after the 2018 2022 General Election, the Coroner of Cullman
23 County shall receive a an annual salary of twenty-five
24 thousand dollars ($25,000) thirty-five thousand dollars
25 ($35,000), to be paid in equal monthly installments, and shall
26 be paid out of the general fund of the county. The salary in
27 this subsection shall be the total compensation paid to the
Page 1 1 coroner, subject to the adjustments provided in subsection
2 (b).
3 "(b) In addition to the salary provided in
4 subsection (a), the salary of the coroner shall be increased
5 by any uniform increases in compensation granted equally to
6 all county employees by the Cullman County Commission. In
7 addition, the coroner may participate in the county health
8 insurance plan provided to county employees under the same
9 terms as county employees.
10 "(b)(c) The Cullman County Commission shall provide
11 the coroner with office space and a county automobile for use
12 in the performance of his or her duties.
13 "(c)(d) The Cullman County Commission shall
14 reimburse the coroner for any actual expenses for supplies
15 used in the performance of his or her duties. The benefits and
16 expenses provided in this subsection shall be in addition to
17 any other compensation or expense allowances provided by law.
18 "(d)(e) The coroner may employ an assistant coroner,
19 and the salary of the assistant coroner shall be paid out of
20 the salary of the coroner."
21 Section 2. This act shall become effective beginning
22 on the next term of the coroner on January 16, 2023.
