FISCAL NOTE
House Bill 488 as introduced extends the state death benefit to include (1) emergency medical services personnel and (2) first responders who die as a result of COVID-19 or complications therefrom, under certain conditions. This bill would increase the obligations of the State General Fund by $124,331 to $134,897 for each state death benefit payment made to a surviving beneficiary or dependent of any such first responder dependent upon the year in which the death occurred.
