1 SB280 2 216866-2 3 By Senator Allen (N & P) 4 RFD: Local Legislation 5 First Read: 01-MAR-22 Page 0 1 216866-2:n:02/04/2022:FC/ma LSA2022-324R1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A BILL 10 TO BE ENTITLED 11 AN ACT 12 13 Relating to Tuscaloosa County; to further provide 14 for the compensation of the Judge of Probate of Tuscaloosa 15 County; and to ratify and confirm any prior compensation paid 16 to the judge of probate prior to the effective date of this 17 act. 18 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA: 19 Section 1. (a) The Judge of Probate of Tuscaloosa 20 County shall receive an annual salary of one hundred 21 fifty-seven thousand five hundred dollars ($157,500) per year 22 payable in the manner that other county employees are paid 23 from the general fund of the county. Except for the increases 24 in compensation provided for in subsection (b), the salary 25 provided in this subsection shall be the total salary, expense 26 allowance, or other compensation of the judge of probate and 27 shall be in lieu of any prior salary, expense allowance, or Page 1 1 other compensation provided or paid to the judge of probate 2 pursuant to any other prior law or otherwise. 3 (b) In addition and supplemental to the salary 4 provided in subsection (a), the judge of probate shall be 5 entitled to any and all uniform increases in compensation, 6 such as cost-of-living increases, and all other employee 7 benefits granted to all county employees by the county. 8 Section 2. Any salary or other compensation paid to 9 the Judge of Probate of Tuscaloosa County prior to the 10 effective date of this act is ratified and confirmed. 11 Section 3. All laws or parts of laws which conflict 12 with this act are repealed. Any part of Act 85-106 of the 1985 13 Regular Session (Acts 1985, p. 135) in conflict with this act 14 is expressly superseded. 15 Section 4. This act shall become effective 16 immediately following its passage and approval by the 17 Governor, or its otherwise becoming law. Page 2
