1 SB299 2 215983-2 3 By Senator Beasley (N & P) 4 RFD: Local Legislation 5 First Read: 08-MAR-22 Page 0 1 215983-2:n:02/02/2022:FC/ma LSA2021-2641R1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A BILL 10 TO BE ENTITLED 11 AN ACT 12 13 Relating to Bullock County; to amend Section 14 45-6-82.21 of the Code of Alabama 1975, relating to the 15 operation of the office of the judge of probate; to further 16 provide for the special recording fee for documents or 17 instruments filed in the probate office and to further provide 18 for the tag issuance fee for motor vehicle tags issued or 19 renewed in the office. 20 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA: 21 Section 1. Section 45-6-82.21 of the Code of Alabama 22 1975, is amended to read as follows: 23 "ยง45-6-82.21. 24 "(a) This section shall apply only in Bullock 25 County. 26 "(b)(1) A special recording fee of seven dollars 27 ($7) ten dollars ($10) shall be charged and collected by the Page 1 1 judge of probate for each document or instrument recorded in 2 the office of the judge of probate. No document or instrument 3 shall be received for record in the office of the judge of 4 probate unless the special recording fee is paid. This fee 5 shall be in addition to any other fee collected by the judge 6 of probate. 7 "(2) The special recording fees collected shall be 8 deposited into a special account to be used by the judge of 9 probate for the operation of the office of the judge of 10 probate, including the purchase of upgrades of equipment, 11 including computer equipment, for operation of the recording 12 system, and for training of employees. 13 "(c) An additional tag issuance fee of four dollars 14 ($4) shall be charged and collected by the judge of probate 15 for each motor vehicle license tag issued or renewed by the 16 office of the judge of probate. No motor vehicle license tag 17 shall be issued or renewed in the office of the judge of 18 probate unless the tag issuance fee is paid. The additional 19 tag issuance fee shall be collected by the judge of probate or 20 his or her agents and deposited in the county general fund." 21 Section 2. This act shall become effective on the 22 first day of the third month following its passage and 23 approval by the Governor, or its otherwise becoming law. Page 2
