5	CELEBRATING THE LIVES OF MRS. PATRICIA ANN WINGARD
6 CHAMBLISS AND MR. CLYDE LEE CHAMBLISS, SR., THE PARENTS OF
7 ALABAMA STATE SENATOR CLYDE LEE CHAMBLISS, JR.
8 
9	WHEREAS, it is with profound sorrow that we note the
10 deaths of Mrs. Patricia Ann Wingard Chambliss and Mr. Clyde
11 Lee Chambliss, Sr., the parents of our friend and colleague,
12 Alabama State Senator Clyde Lee Chambliss, Jr., and his two
13 sisters, Cheryl Chambliss Powell and Janet Chambliss Duncan;
14 Mrs. Chambliss passed away on February 28, 2022, at the age of
15 76; three weeks later, Mr. Chambliss passed away on March 21,
16 2022, at the age of 81; and
17	WHEREAS, their passings leave voids in the lives of
18 their loving families, many friends, and the entire community,
19 where they were highly regarded; and
20	WHEREAS, Mrs. Chambliss was born on January 25,
21 1946, and Mr. Chambliss was born on August 15, 1940; they were
22 joined in holy matrimony on August 26, 1966; and
23	WHEREAS, upon graduating from Semmes High School in
24 1964, Mrs. Chambliss studied business at the Twentieth Century
25 Business School in Mobile, Alabama; she will always be

1 remembered for her devotion and service to her family, whom
2 she loved unconditionally; she was an excellent cook who was
3 known for her lasagna, sweet potatoes, potato salad, and
4 carrot cake; her favorite holiday was Easter, and she loved to
5 celebrate the Resurrection of her Lord and Savior by hosting
6 her entire family at her house for a delicious meal and a
7 giant Easter egg hunt; she and Mr. Chambliss operated their
8 family business, The Chambliss Store, and later ran other
9 businesses, including the Union 76 Station on Highway 31 at
10 I-65 and a shoe shop in downtown Prattville; later, Mrs.
11 Chambliss handled all family affairs while Mr. Chambliss
12 worked a swing shift at Union Camp Prattville Papermill; Mrs.
13 Chambliss worked various other jobs throughout her life as
14 well, including serving as the Librarian at Grace Baptist
15 School; and
16	WHEREAS, following his graduation from Autauga
17 County High School in 1958, Mr. Chambliss, a fifth generation
18 resident of Prattville, Alabama, enlisted in the United States
19 Army; upon completion of active duty, he worked with the Army
20 Corps of Engineers in the construction of the test launch pad
21 in Huntsville, Alabama, for the Saturn V Rocket that delivered
22 the Apollo Spacecraft and the first humans to the moon; he
23 will always be remembered for his faithfulness to His Lord
24 through the church; he was dedicated to making church
25 attendance a priority and to serving as a Trustee at Grace

1 Baptist Church and later at Heritage Baptist Church; he was
2 also devoted to his children and was known to swap work shifts
3 and rearrange his schedule in order to attend his children's
4 functions; and
5	WHEREAS, although their presence will be greatly
6 missed, the memories of Mrs. Patricia Ann Wingard Chambliss
7 and Mr. Clyde Lee Chambliss, Sr. will be cherished in the
8 hearts of all who knew and loved them; they touched many
9 lives, and the legacy that they created will surely continue;
10 now therefore,
11	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
12 HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That the deaths of Mrs. Patricia
13 Ann Wingard Chambliss and Mr. Clyde Lee Chambliss, Sr. are
14 recorded with deep sadness, and this resolution is offered in
15 tribute to their lives, along with heartfelt sympathy to their
16 family, whose grief is shared by many.
