Enrolled, An Act,
HJR___ COMMENDING COACH MICHAEL RAY ROBERTSON ON HIS
INDUCTION INTO THE ALABAMA HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS HALL OF FAME
CLASS OF 2023.
WHEREAS, highest commendations and congratulations
are proudly presented to Coach Michael Ray Robertson for
outstanding professional achievement on the occasion of his
being inducted into the Alabama High School Sports Hall of
Fame Class of 2023; and
WHEREAS, a native of Gadsden, Alabama, Michael Ray
Robertson graduated as valedictorian from Hokes Bluff High
School in 1977; he was also an outstanding athlete, earning
All-County honors in three sports; he was quarterback on
state champion and runner-up teams; he played on three state
champion baseball teams, and his number 2 jersey was retired
in 1977; and
WHEREAS, Coach Robertson attended Gadsden State
Community College on a baseball scholarship and later
graduated from Athens State University in 1981 with a degree
in mathematics; he also has a master's degree from The
University of Alabama and an education degree from Lincoln
Memorial University; and
WHEREAS, Coach Robertson began his teaching and
coaching career in 1981 as an assistant coach at
Southside-Gadsden; he returned to his alma mater, Hokes

Bluff, in 1984, where he continues to coach today; he has
earned numerous Coach of the Year honors in three major
sports; and
WHEREAS, Coach Michael Robertson is one of 13 persons
selected for induction into the Alabama High School Sports
Hall of Fame's Class of 2023; the induction ceremony will
take place at a banquet held in Montgomery in March; now
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That Coach Michael Ray Robertson
is highly honored and commended, and this resolution is
offered to him in deepest admiration and appreciation, along
with sincere best wishes for all future endeavors.
