HJR____ URGING THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION TO AFFIRM REDSTONE
ARSENAL AS THE FUTURE LOCATION OF THE U.S. SPACE COMMAND.
WHEREAS, the headquarters of the U.S. Space Command
is located in Colorado on a temporary basis until
evidence-based strategic and analytical processes to
determine a permanent base are completed; and 
WHEREAS, during the process of evaluating possible
permanent locations for the headquarters of the U.S. Space
Command, Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, has
continually earned top scores in each stage of the process
over 65 other possible locations; and 
WHEREAS, Redstone Arsenal is uniquely accessible by
rail, water, air, and highway; NASA's Marshall Space Flight
Center and the U.S. Missile Defense Agency are located on
the Redstone Aresenal campus with an existing world-class
aerospace and defense workforce; the City of Huntsville has
affordable cost-of-living, access to quality K-12 and
university education, existing infrastructure supporting
Alabama's most populous city, and job opportunities for
spouses; and 
WHEREAS, in January 2021, the United States
Department of the Air Force selected Redstone Arsenal as the
preferred location for the permanent headquarters of the
U.S. Space Command; this decision was affirmed by the United

States Department of Defense and the United States
Government Accountability Office; now therefore, 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That this body strongly and
respectfully urges President Biden and his administration to
affirm Redstone Arsenal as the permanent headquarters of the
U.S. Space Command. 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Secretary of the
State of Alabama transmit duly authorized copies of this
resolution to the President of the United States and the
Alabama Delegation to the United States Congress.
