Senate Bill 267 as passed the Senate would establish the Athletic Trainer Secondary School
Incentive Program, to be administered by the Alabama Board of Athletic Trainers, to award up
to $7,500 per school to local boards of education as a recruitment and retention incentive for
qualified athletic trainers at certain schools, beginning with the 2024-2025 school year. This bill
would also: (1) authorize the Legislature to appropriate funds to the board for the program and
provide for funding from nongovernmental entities; (2) cap the program at $2 million annually;
and (3) provide that unexpended funds do not revert but remain with the board to be used for the
program.
This bill would increase the administrative obligations of the board to administrate the program
pursuant to the provisions of this bill.
