Enrolled, An Act,
SJR___ NAMING THE PORTION OF UNITED STATES HIGHWAY ROUTE 43
FROM MILE MARKER 212 TO MILE MARKER 213 THE AUDRA ROGERS
MEMORIAL MILE.
WHEREAS, in memory of Audra Mary Rogers, this body
renames that portion of United States Highway Route 43 from
mile marker 212 to 213, which lies just north of Northport
Alabama, as the Audra Rogers Memorial Mile; and
WHEREAS, on July 5, 2021, Ms. Rogers, who was
pregnant with her fifth child, and her four young sons were
hit head on in an accident that caused her and her unborn
child's death and injured her surviving children; and
WHEREAS, the loss of Ms. Rogers is devastating to her
family and community where she was highly regarded; Audra
was an accomplished bodybuilder and a three-time state
record holder in powerlifting; she was a beauty queen and
held the title of 2021 World's Ms. Alabama Tourism; she was
a respiratory therapist and first responder; and she was a
community volunteer; but, most importantly, she was a
devoted mother, daughter, and friend; and
WHEREAS, Audra was an inspiration to many who
followed her fitness and weightlifting journey on social

media; she is fondly remembered by friends and family for
her contagious joy, infectious smile, and uplifting sense of
humor; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That, in memory of Audra Mary
Rogers, the portion of United States Highway Route 43
between mile marker 212 and 213 is hereby renamed and
designated the Audra Rogers Memorial Mile.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Department of
Transportation is requested to coordinate with local
governing officials on fabricating and erecting appropriate
signs or markers, consistent with applicable requirements
and laws, in recognition of this honorary designation.
