Relating to motor vehicle licenses; to amend Section 32-6-4.3 and Sections 32-6-6, 32-6-6.1, 32-6-15, and 32-6-21, as last amended by Act 2022-300, 2022 Regular Session, Code of Alabama 1975, to eliminate all fees associated with the issuance of a driver license or nondriver identification card to qualified disabled veterans of the United States Armed Forces.
Relating to the Retirement Systems of Alabama; to amend Section 36-27-59, Code of Alabama 1975, to remove the time limit for purchasing hazardous duty time for prior eligible service for certain firefighters, law enforcement officers, and correctional officers covered under the Employees' Retirement System or the Teachers' Retirement System as Tier I plan members.
Creating Hope and Opportunity for Our Students’ Education (CHOOSE) Act of 2024, established to provide education savings accounts (ESAs) for parents of children to use in providing education services for those children.
Relating to the Tax Incentive Reform Act; to authorize a public industrial authority to grant abatements for international headquarters of publicly traded companies
Recycling, authorizing the Dept. of Environmental Management to issue transferable recycle credits to users of recyclable materials and for off setting solid waste disposal costs, to administer all transactions, to impose civil penalties for fraud
Relating to motor vehicle driver licenses and registrations; to amend Section 40-12-244, Code of Alabama 1975, to further provide for an exemption from the license tax and registration fee levied on motor vehicles, to include all active duty, retired, and honorably discharged members of the United States Armed Forces; and to provide an exemption from any drivers license or nondriver identification card fees to certain individuals.
Relating to public officers and employees; to amend Section 36-21-7, Code of Alabama 1975, to increase the time period during which the state or a political subdivision of the state must be reimbursed for the training of a new law enforcement officer, certified corrections officer, fire protection personnel, or firefighter; to include custom fitted uniform items in the required reimbursement; and to make nonsubstantive, technical revisions to update the existing code language to current style.
Relating to the Department of Finance; to amend Sections 41-4-3 and 41-4-50, Code of Alabama 1975; to provide for the charging of a reasonable fee for services provided by the Department and to allow the State Comptroller to pay a vendor which is entitled to payment for services or goods rendered to the State.
