A BILL
TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
Relating to Perry County; to further provide for the
salary and expense allowance of the coroner; and to repeal
Section 45-53-60 of the Code of Alabama 1975, and Act 91-361
of the 1991 Regular Session (Acts 1991, p. 692), relating to
expense allowances of the coroner.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
Section 1. (a) Effective beginning June 1, 2024, the
Coroner of Perry County shall be entitled to receive an
expense allowance of twelve thousand dollars ($12,000) per
year, to be paid in equal monthly installments from the
general fund of the county. The expense allowance provided in
this section shall be in lieu of any other expense allowance
or fees currently provided to the coroner and shall be the
only expense allowance or fees provided to the coroner.
(b) Effective at the end of the term of the coroner
serving on June 1, 2024, this section shall be repealed.
Section 2. Effective beginning the next term of the
coroner, the coroner shall receive a salary of twelve thousand
dollars ($12,000) per year, payable from the general fund of
the county in equal monthly installments. This salary shall be

the county in equal monthly installments. This salary shall be
the only compensation, expense allowance, salary, or fees
provided to the coroner.
Section 3. Effective June 1, 2024, Section 45-53-60 of
the Code of Alabama 1975, is repealed, and Act 91-361 of the
1991 Regular Session (Acts 1991, p. 692), superseded by
Section 45-53-60, is repealed.
Section 4. This act shall become effective on June 1,
2024.
