House Bill 64 as introduced could increase election expenses, paid from the State General Fund
or local funds, by an undetermined amount dependent upon the number of defective absentee
ballots received per election and the cost to notify the elector of the opportunity to cure the
defect, as provided by this bill.
This bill would also increase the administrative obligations of the Secretary of State's office to
develop and adopt rules to implement the provisions of this bill.
