Senate Bill 274as introduced would increase the administrative obligations of the Office of the
State Auditor to: (1) adjust every two years, and notify agency property managers, of any
increases in the threshold value of state property to be inventoried; (2) establish the Division of
Investigations to investigate instances of lost, stolen or damaged state property; and (3) renew
and analyze the internal policies relating to the inventorying of property owned by state entities.
In addition, this bill would increase the administrative obligations of state agencies to report the
loss or theft of state property above the threshold value.
In addition, this bill would increase the administrative obligations of the State Library Service
and the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind to comply with the requirements relating to
inventory of state property and reporting, lost, stolen or damaged state property to the Property
Inventory Control Division.
