House Bill 14 as reported by the Committee on County and Municipal Government could
increase the obligations of the Governor and Attorney General by an undetermined amount
dependent upon the amount of the salary of any interim police chief appointed pursuant to this
bill. These obligations could be offset, in whole or in part, by any costs recouped from the
municipality pursuant to a petition of the circuit court as provided by this bill.
In addition, this bill could decrease state funding to a municipality that violates the provisions of
this bill by an undetermined amount dependent on the amount of funds the municipality would
otherwise have received absent this provision.
