SYNOPSIS:
Under existing law, the Board of Pardons and
Paroles may not share electronic monitoring GPS data
with local law enforcement agencies.
This bill would authorize the Board of Pardons
and Paroles to share electronic monitoring GPS data
with local law enforcement agencies under certain
circumstances.
A BILL
TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
Relating to pardons and paroles; to add Section
15-22-26.3 to the Code of Alabama 1975, to authorize the Board
of Pardons and Paroles to share electronic monitoring GPS data
with local law enforcement agencies under certain
circumstances.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
Section 1. Section 15-22-26.3 is added to the Code of
Alabama 1975, to read as follows:
ยง15-22-26.3
(a) During an active investigation, a local law
enforcement agency may request the Board of Pardons and

enforcement agency may request the Board of Pardons and
Paroles for probative electronic monitoring GPS data
pertaining to the investigation.
(b) The Board of Pardons and Paroles may share the
requested electronic monitoring GPS data pursuant to
subsection (a).
Section 2. This act shall become effective on October
1, 2025.
