House Bill 234 as passed the House of Representatives would increase the obligations of the
governing bodies of local boards of education and public charter schools to purchase mobile
emergency rapid response systems and equip and train designated personnel by October 1, 2030,
subject to annual dedicated school safety funds. This bill would allow the governing bodies to
use certain state funds to comply with the provisions of this bill.
Additionally, this bill would increase the administrative obligations of the State Board of
Education to develop a list of approved vendors providing mobile approved emergency rapid
response systems and to adopt rules to administer the provisions of this bill.
