House Bill 271 as passed the House of Representatives could increase the obligations of the
(Re)Engage Alabama Grant program by up to $3,000 for each individual who qualifies to
participate in the program that otherwise would not have qualified by: (1) lowering the
minimum eligible age of a participant from 25, under current law, to 22 years old; and (2)
allowing individuals to participate in the program to obtain a baccalaureate degree after having
received an associates degree, if they have not previously received a (Re)Engage Alabama grant.
