House Bill 359 would increase the obligations of the State General Fund, beginning in Fiscal
Year 2026, by $152,858 for each state death benefit payment paid to a beneficiary of a state or
municipal firefighter that dies as a result of work-related diagnosis of Parkinson's disease.
This bill could also increase the obligations of the State Employee Injury Compensation Trust
Fund (SEICTF), which is funded through charges assessed against state agencies employing
firefighters, by an amount dependent upon the claims paid to firefighters disabled as a result of
the expanded definition of occupational diseases.
