House Bill 43as passed the House of Representatives would reduce obligations of the
Department of Corrections by an undetermined amount dependent on the number of individuals
confined for a lesser period of time under the provisions of this bill than otherwise confined
under current law.
This bill could correspondingly increase the obligations of the Board of Pardons and Paroles by
an undetermined amount dependent on the number of individuals placed on probation and
supervised by the board and the length of the probation period determined by the court, as
provided by this bill.
In addition, the provisions of this bill could increase the obligations of the Office of Indigent
Services, paid from the Fair Trial Tax Fund, and the Administrative Office of Courts, by an
undetermined amount, dependent on the number of indigent defendants that attend an
accountability court pursuant to this bill.
