House Bill 498as introduced could increase the obligations of the State Department of
Education by an undetermined amount dependent on the compensation provided to special
investigators appointed pursuant to this bill to investigate matters the department and State
Board of Education has authority to administer or regulate, pursuant to the provisions.
This bill could also increase the administrative obligations of ALEA's Criminal Justice
Information Services Division to audit access to law enforcement records and systems by special
investigators pursuant to the provisions of this bill.
