House Bill 525 as introduced would increase the obligations to the Alabama Student Grant
Program by up to $3,00 for each student that attends a postsecondary institution meeting the
criteria provided by this bill that would now be eligible to apply and receive grant funding.
In FY 2024, $9.5 million was appropriated for this program, and the award amount was prorated
to $1,664 per award.
