A BILL
TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
Relating to Butler County; to authorize the sheriff to
sell surplus property; and to provide for the proceeds of
sales.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
Section 1. (a) The Sheriff of Butler County may sell
surplus property of the sheriff's department, including
vehicles, at a time and in a manner that the sheriff deems
best to obtain the greatest return from the original
investment.
(b) The sheriff shall establish the Sheriff's Vehicle
Fund in a bank in Butler County to be used for the purchase of
vehicles or related equipment for the sheriff's office. The
receipts and expenditures of funds shall be audited by the
Department of Examiners of Public Accounts.
(c) All monies received from the sale of surplus
property shall be deposited into the Sheriff's Vehicle Fund.
Section 2. This act shall become effective on June 1,
2025.
