WHEREAS, with great pride and special pleasure, highest commendations are conveyed to David Adams on the occasion of his retirement as the Director of the Escambia County Emergency Management Agency; and WHEREAS, David Adams has been a public servant for the past 45 years as a volunteer firefighter; he also served as Superintendent of Public Works for the Town of Flomaton, Alabama, for 15 years; and he has served as Director of the Escambia County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) for 19 years; and WHEREAS, in his role with the county's EMA, Mr. Adams has often served as a calming voice of reason in the face of disastrous events; Escambia County has several creeks that are prone to flooding during storms and its location in South Central Alabama puts the county at risk of hurricane and tropical storm damage; and WHEREAS, some of the significant events that Mr. Adams has participated in the mitigation and relief efforts include the 2011 deadly tornado outbreak; Hurricanes Sally, Michael, Irma, Nate, and Gustav, among many other severe storms, and the 2020 Corona Virus Pandemic; now therefore, 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 HJR166 INTRODUCED Page 2 storms, and the 2020 Corona Virus Pandemic; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That for his many years of public service to the residents of Escambia County and in recognition of his 19-year career as Director of the Escambia County Emergency Management Agency, David Adams is highly commended, and this resolution is offered to him as evidence of our high regard and with best wishes for continued health and prosperity in his retirement. 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36
