HJR___ COMMENDING STUDENT ATHLETE MARY KATHERINE MALONE FOR
BEING CHOSEN TO SING THE NATIONAL ANTHEM AT THE NCAA FINAL
FOUR BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT.
WHEREAS, with great pride and special pleasure,
highest commendations are herein presented to student
athlete and Mountain Brook, Alabama, native Mary Katherine
Malone for being chosen to sing the National Anthem at the
NCAA Final Four Basketball Tournament; and 
WHEREAS, the National Collegiate Athletic Association
(NCAA) continued the long-standing tradition of choosing
talented student athletes from each of the four teams
competing in the Final Four to join together to sing the
National Anthem; and 
WHEREAS, Mary Katherine Malone, a distance and cross
country runner on Auburn University's track and field team,
was chosen to represent Auburn; she was a standout athlete
at Mountain Brook High School where she competed in track
and field from the seventh to the 12th grade; she was a part
of nine track and cross country state championships during
her high school career; and she earned the individual state
championship in 2024 for the 1600 meter track event; and 
WHEREAS, since joining the Auburn Tigers, Mary
Katherine has competed in the 5k at the Southern Showcase
with a time of 18:49.30 and the 6k at the Gans Creek Classic

with a time of 18:49.30 and the 6k at the Gans Creek Classic
with a time of 22:34.90; along with having dynamic voice,
she is a talented piano player; now therefore, 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That Mary Katherine Malone is
highly commended and congratulated for being chosen to
perform the National Anthem at the NCAA Men's Final Four
Basketball Tournament, and this resolution is offered to her
with best wishes for continued prosperity and success in all
future endeavors.
