Enrolled, An Act,
HJR___ COMMENDING JULIE FIKE SAINT FOR EXEMPLARY SERVICE TO
THE ALABAMA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.
WHEREAS, it is with profound gratitude and sadness
that the Alabama House of Representatives and its staff
recognize employee Julie Fike Saint upon her retirement
after nearly 40 years of devoted service to the Legislature
and the people of the Great State of Alabama; and
WHEREAS, Julie Saint started her career with the
Alabama House of Representatives as a part-time typist in
the Enrolling and Engrossing Department on Tuesday, February
5, 1985, and was swiftly elevated to full-time employment as
a Data Entry Operator II in the same department on May 17,
1985; and
WHEREAS, in the short span of less than three years,
at the age of 23, she was promoted to the position of
supervisor of the Enrolling and Engrossing Department and
has remained in that position ever since; and
WHEREAS, her career has spanned the terms of four
House Clerks, six House Speakers, eight Governors of
Alabama, and an astounding 88 legislative sessions; she has
seen thousands of bills cross her desk needing amendments
incorporated and bills prepared for presentment to the
Governor; she was a critical contributor to the very first
legislative computer system implemented by the Alabama
Legislature; and

Legislature; and
WHEREAS, Julie Saint has been a "Mama JuJu" to nearly
every member, employee, intern, lobbyist, agency
representative, or even a visitor by giving her time and
money to keep an endless supply of snacks in her cabinets
and by bringing countless culinary delights (most famously,
her original and delectable Tiger Butter) from her kitchen
to feed anyone and everyone who walked into her office; and
WHEREAS, whatever members and staff needed, Julie had
it; from an earring back to a large or small safety pin,
holding hairspray to Tylenol, lint roller to industrial
super glue, she had it all and was always willing to share;
and
WHEREAS, armed with an endless supply of two-dollar
bills, she was always one of the first employees to
volunteer to assist in the many charitable efforts taken on
by the House staff, such as helping pick out and purchase
presents for underprivileged children at Christmas or to don
an outrageous Halloween costume to garner laughs from
visiting school children; additionally, she was always
helping organize and carry out a variety of staff events
that took place throughout the years, including her crazy
and creative Christmas games that bring out the competitive
nature and the inner child in every employee each year; and
WHEREAS, Julie was and will always be thought of as
the "heart" of the House of Representatives; she
consistently brought an unmatched energy and enthusiasm,
along with a ton of laughs, to each work day; she always
demonstrated compassion and unwavering support to her

demonstrated compassion and unwavering support to her
colleagues by always expressing genuine care and concern for
staff and their families; and
WHEREAS, we know that Julie Saint will be spending
more time with her husband Steve, their three children, and
six grandchildren; we also know that she is not one to sit
still and will be found caring for her beloved flower beds
at her home in Wetumpka or shopping at her nearest Dollar
"Gentral" or Walmart; we have utmost faith that she will
continue to positively impact the lives of those around her
in her new adventures; now therefore, 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That we highly commend and thank
Julie Fike Saint for her exemplary service to this House and
the people of the Great State of Alabama; we direct that a
copy of this resolution be delivered to Mrs. Saint as a
token of our immense gratitude, and with utmost blessings of
good health and happiness to her and her family.
