Enrolled, An Act,
EXTENDING THE CHRONIC WEIGHT MANAGEMENT AND TYPE 2 DIABETES
TASK FORCE.
WHEREAS, House Joint Resolution 163, enacted as Act
2023-260 of the 2023 Regular Session, created the Chronic
Weight Management and Type 2 Diabetes Task Force to study
the health implications of chronic weight management and
type 2 diabetes; and
WHEREAS, Act 2023-260 provided that the task force
would submit findings and recommendations to the Speaker of
the House of Representatives, the President Pro Tempore of
the Senate, and the chairs of the appropriate legislative
committees no later than the fifteenth legislative day of
the 2025 Regular Session, at which time the task force would
be dissolved; and
WHEREAS, the task force needs an additional year in
order to continue to develop recommendations relating to the
issue of health implications of chronic weight management
and type 2 diabetes; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That the Chronic Weight
Management and Type 2 Diabetes Task Force , created pursuant
to Act 2023-260, 2023 Regular Session, is extended.
(a) The task force shall prepare a report of its
findings and recommendations to the Speaker of the House of
Representatives, the President Pro Tempore of the Senate,

Representatives, the President Pro Tempore of the Senate,
and the chairs of the appropriate legislative committees not
later than the fifteenth legislative day of the 2026 Regular
Session. Upon filing its report, the task force shall stand
dissolved and discharged of any future duties and
liabilities.
(b) Pursuant to Section 36-14-17.1, Code of Alabama
1975, the task force shall provide the Secretary of State a
notice of all meetings, the name of each member serving on
the task force, and a copy of the final report and any other
documents produced by the task force throughout its
duration.
