HR____ RECOGNIZING THE BAY FROG OPEN AND RETIRED NAVY SEAL
LIEUTENANT COMMANDER RICHARD CLIFFORD FOR THEIR DEDICATION
TO THE UNITED STATES SPECIAL FORCES.
WHEREAS, on June 22, 2025, in Erie, Pennsylvania,
Uncommon Grit Foundation (UGF) is hosting its third annual
Bay Frog Open One-Mile Swim, which will feature athletes
accompanied by former Navy SEALs and Special Operations
Veterans; and
WHEREAS, the Bay Frog Open One-Mile Swim will
conclude three days of events that center around awareness,
patriotism, community, and fun; this high-performance
athletic event draws together anyone willing to take the
challenge in a race that embodies the grit and determination
of the Special Operations Forces; and
WHEREAS, proceeds from the event will benefit
Uncommon Grit Foundation as well as allow UGF to elevate the
work of other nonprofit organizations that raise money for
our nation's service men and women; and
WHEREAS, founded in spring of 2020, the mission of
UGF is to raise awareness and increase community support for
military Veterans, first responders, and their families in
recognition and thanks for their service and sacrifice to
our country; and  
WHEREAS, we commend proud Alabamian Navy SEAL

WHEREAS, we commend proud Alabamian Navy SEAL
Lieutenant Commander (Retired) Richard Clifford for his
support of Uncommon Grit Foundation; LCDR Clifford joined
the military in 1986, BUDS Class 142; during his 31 years of
active duty, he served combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan,
and for his service in Afghanistan he received a Bronze Star
and two Combat Action Ribbons; he retired in 2017 and has
since advocated for and contributed to various military
Veteran organizations, including this year's Bay Frog Open
hosted by the Uncommon Grit Foundation, bringing awareness
of their worthy causes back to the great State of Alabama;
now therefore, 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That we recognize and celebrate the
missions of Uncommon Grit Foundation and retired Navy SEAL
Lieutenant Commander Richard Clifford on their work to
support all United States Special Operations Forces; we
commend their fundraising efforts at the 2025 Bay Frog Open,
and we hereby dedicate this resolution to them with
heartiest appreciation and admiration, along with sincere
best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
