HR___ COMMENDING THE STUDENTS OF HOKES BLUFF HIGH SCHOOL FOR
SERVING AT POLLING LOCATIONS DURING THE 2024 ELECTION.
WHEREAS, highest commendations are herein proudly
presented to the students of Hokes Bluff High School for
serving at various polling locations during the 2024
election; and
WHEREAS, Hokes Bluff students covered 11 polling
places throughout the county; some of these were close to
the school, including Hokes Bluff Community Center and
Tillison Bend Water Authority, but many of the students
traveled a great distance to serve at Mountainboro Fire
Department, Lookout Mountain Community Center, and Noccalula
Kiwannis Pavilion; and
WHEREAS, working at these polling places allowed the
students to get to know different people and learn the
method of how elections work at the grassroots level; some
of their responsibilities included helping to check in
voters, validate identification, and handing out ballots and
helping turn them in; many of the students worked all 12
hours and then went to the courthouse to see the returns
come in; and
WHEREAS, the training each year is done by Judge of
Probate Scott Hassell, who organized the program; the
students were trained to use the computer program that each

students were trained to use the computer program that each
polling place utilizes; they were also educated in job
responsibilities and rules and were trained in how to use
the voting machines; and
WHEREAS, the students enjoy this activity, and many
look forward each year to participating; some of them are
motivated to seek jobs and involvement in politics in their
future and many return after graduating to continue to
volunteer; and
WHEREAS, the volunteers from Hokes Bluff High School
who participated in the 2024 Election are Anthony Delvalle,
Kaitlyn Miller, Emmie May, Kade Brown, Lana Connell, Bray
Bearden, Drew McCarver, Anderson Morgan, Colton Shields,
Parker Lemons, Aiden Howard, Amelia St. John, Luci Dauser,
Sophia Jackson, Victoria St. John, Bryce Whitaker, Clayton
Helms, Caden Howard, Brayden Davis, Cayce Bonds, Emma Doss,
Madelyn Dupree, Maggie Bray, Abby Minton, Kooper Young,
Brayden Howard, Taylor Elrod, Trey Harbin, Natalie
Mooneyham, Addi Robertson, Riley Thomas, Anthony Gooch,
Logan Reed, Kaden Bryant, Makenna Bennich, Presley Wall,
Peyton Abercrombie, Ethan Patterson, Noah Johnson, Cort
Robinson, Parker Causey, Gwyn Amrein, Anna Lee, Leon Chen,
Daisy Jeffers, Logan Wiemann, Brayden Fox, Lauryn Swinford,
and Jenna Bradley; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the students of Hokes Bluff
High School are highly commended for their service as
Election Day poll workers, and we hereby dedicate this
resolution to the students and their school with utmost
