WHEREAS, we join the students, coaches, parents, and faculty at Springwood School in celebrating the Varsity Girls Basketball Team and Coach Lisa Sampson for winning the 2025 Alabama Independent School Association (AISA) AA State Basketball Championship; and WHEREAS, on February 14, 2025, at the Cramton Bowl Multiplex in Montgomery, the Springwood School Lady Wildcats, through teamwork, diligence, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, delivered a decisive takedown of the Lowndes Academy Rebels, 49-29, and returned to Lanett with the coveted championship trophy; and WHEREAS, the team has been dominant all season long, and the final game was no exception; in addition to winning the state championship, they also claimed the region championship in the regular season, and they finish the season with a record of 21-1; and WHEREAS, on a team filled with exceptional athletes, several players stood out with their game-changing play; Shalexia Little, a University of Montevallo full scholarship commit, was recognized as an AISA All Star and named to the 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 HR258 INTRODUCED Page 2 commit, was recognized as an AISA All Star and named to the AISA State All Tournament Team; joining her on the all tournament team are Emily Jo Matthews and Tori Patillo, who stunningly scored her 1,000th career point this season; and WHEREAS, the Springwood School 2024-2025 Varsity Girls Basketball Program has been superbly coached and inspired by Head Varsity Coach Lisa Sampson; under her leadership, the players have broadened their knowledge of the game, refined their skills in execution, and strengthened the school's tradition of superior play and true sportsmanship; and WHEREAS, the talented members of the Springwood School Lady Wildcats are Shalexia Little, Vivian Van Schoor, Emily Jo Matthews, Maddie McEachern, Estela Campos, Tanner Hill, Madison Robinson, Tori Patillo, Aiyanna Billingsley, Harlee Shaw, Vega Monsalve, Kacy Harper, Ava Westbrook, Caroline Van Schoor, Gemma Clevenger, Brea Hanvey, and Payton Eddy; and WHEREAS, the Lady Wildcats' noteworthy success is a tremendous source of pride for their families, classmates, teachers and staff, Head of School Dr. Kimberly Plank, and the entire community, whose dedication and support have played a crucial role in motivating the team; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the Springwood School Varsity Girls Basketball Team and Coach Lisa Sampson are highly honored and commended on earning the 2025 Alabama Independent School Association AA State Championship Title, and we hereby dedicate this resolution to them with utmost 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36 37 38 39 40 41 42 43 44 45 46 47 48 49 50 51 52 53 54 55 56 HR258 INTRODUCED Page 3 and we hereby dedicate this resolution to them with utmost admiration, along with best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors. 57 58
