Senate Bill 156 as reported by the Committee on Judiciary could increase the administrative
obligations of the Unified Judicial System, the Office of Attorney General, and district attorneys
to conduct reviews or hold hearings for petitions for reduced sentences as provided in this bill. 
This bill could also further increase the administrative obligations of the Unified Judicial
System and the Office of Attorney General to provide certain data to the Alabama Sentencing
Commission for inclusion in their annual report.
In addition, this bill could increase the administrative obligations of the Bureau of Pardons and
Paroles by an undetermined amount to locate and notify certain victims of the potential for a
hearing and the victim's rights related to the petition filed.
Finally, this bill could decrease the obligations of the Department of Corrections by an
undetermined amount dependent on any reductions in sentences for inmates provided by this
bill.
The resentencing and notification provisions of this bill shall be repealed on October 1, 2030.
