Senate Bill 67 as passed the Senate could increase or decrease the obligations of the Department
of Veterans Affairs by an undetermined amount dependent upon the difference in: (1) the salary
of the commissioner of the department set by the Alabama State Board of Veterans Affairs, as
provided by current law; and, (2) the salary set by the Governor, as provided by this bill.
This bill would also transfer certain powers and duties related to oversight of the department and
its programs from the board to the commissioner.
