Davis 6 7 For An Act To Be Entitled 8 AN ACT CONCERNING TH E OSTEOPATHIC RURAL MEDICAL 9 PRACTICE STUDENT LOA N AND SCHOLARSHIP PR OGRAM; TO 10 AMEND THE APPOINTMEN T PROCESS FOR THE OS TEOPATHIC 11 RURAL MEDICAL PRACTI CE STUDENT LOAN AND SCHOLARSHIP 12 BOARD; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 13 14 15 Subtitle 16 TO AMEND THE APPOINTMENT PROCESS FOR THE 17 OSTEOPATHIC RURAL MEDICAL PRACTICE 18 STUDENT LOAN AND SCHOLARSHIP BOARD. 19 20 21 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS: 22 23 SECTION 1. Arkansas Code ยง 6-81-1803(a), concerning the composition of 24 the Osteopathic Rural Medical Practice Student Loan and Scholarship Board, is 25 amended to read as follows: 26 (a)(1) There is established the Osteopathic Rural Medical Practice 27 Student Loan and Scholarship Board composed of that shall consist of six (6) 28 members, which shall include : 29 (A) One (1) representative of member who shall be 30 appointed by the Governor after consultation with each medical school in 31 Arkansas that is not the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences; 32 (B) One (1) representative of member who shall be 33 appointed by the Governor after consultation with the Arkansas Osteopathic 34 Medical Association, who shall serve as vice chair; 35 (C) Two (2) physician members appointed by the Governor 36 As Engrossed: S4/4/23 HB1544 2 04-04-2023 16:00:24 TNL083 after consultation with the Arkansas Osteopathic Medical Association, giving 1 preference to physicians who have received osteopathic rural medical practice 2 loans, community match loans, or income incentives; and 3 (D) Two (2) representatives appointed by the Governor 4 after consultation with the Arkansas Hospital Association, Inc. 5 (2) Members of the board shall: 6 (A) Serve a term of three (3) years; and 7 (B) Not serve more than two (2) consecutive terms. 8 (3) Except as provided under subsection (c) o f this section, 9 members of the board shall serve without compensation. 10 (4) Vacancies shall be filled in a similar manner as provided 11 under subdivisions (a)(1) and (2) of this section. 12 13 /s/L.
