Davis 6 7 For An Act To Be Entitled 8 AN ACT TO AMEND THE COVERAGE OF A CONTINUOUS GLUCOSE 9 MONITOR IN THE ARKANSAS MEDICAID PROGRAM; AND FOR 10 OTHER PURPOSES. 11 12 13 Subtitle 14 TO AMEND THE COVERAGE OF A CONTINUOUS 15 GLUCOSE MONITOR IN THE ARKANSAS MEDICAID 16 PROGRAM. 17 18 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS: 19 20 SECTION 1. Arkansas Code § 20 -77-148(c), concerning the coverage of a 21 continuous glucose monitor within the Arkansas Medicaid Program, is amended 22 to read as follows: 23 (c) Coverage for a continuous glucose monitor under the Arkansas 24 Medicaid Program shall allow the beneficiary to obtain a continuous glucose 25 monitor through: 26 (1) A a prescription at a pharmacy and be eligible for rebates 27 as a pharmacy benefit ; or 28 (2)(A) A written order from a ordering practitioner for durable 29 medical equipment provided by a durable medical equipment provider and be 30 eligible as a durable medical equipment benefit. 31 (B) A durable medical provider shall not be required to 32 submit a National Drug Code as part of any claim submission under this 33 section. 34 35 SECTION 2. Arkansas Code § 20 -77-148, concerning coverage of 36 HB1255 2 01/27/2025 2:22:11 PM JMB182 continuous glucose monitors within the Arkansas Medicaid Program, is amended 1 to add an additional subsection to read as follows: 2 (d) Regardless of whether the coverage for a continuous glucose 3 monitor is provided through a pharmacy or a durable medical equipment 4 provider, the Department of Human Services shall: 5 (1) Implement consistent approval processes and paperwork 6 requirements; and 7 (2) Reimburse for a continuous glucose monitor provided by a 8 durable medical equipment provider at no less than the Medicare reimbursement 9 under the Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System. 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36
