AS A 2024 EXEMPLARY ACHIEVEMENT GAP 16 
CLOSING SCHOOLS NATIONAL BLUE RIBBON 17 
SCHOOL. 18

 WHEREAS, McGehee Elementary School was recognized by the United States 20 
Department of Education as an Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing Schools 21 
National Blue Ribbon School in 2024; and 22 
 23 
 WHEREAS, recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School is an impressive 24 
honor based on a school's performance, with Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing 25 
Schools recognized for excelling in narrowing achievement gaps between 26 
different student groups and the overall student body; and 27 
 28 
 WHEREAS, National Blue Ribbon Schools serve as models of effective 29 
school practices for state and district educators and other schools 30 
throughout the nation; and 31 
 32 
 WHEREAS, McGehee Elementary School was recognized by the United States 33 
Department of Education as having a strong collaboration with parents, 34 
families, teachers, administrators, and the community towards its efforts in 35

 WHEREAS,  United States Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona said, 2 
“The National Blue Ribbon Schools Award is a testament to the exceptional 3 
achievements of students and educators at each of these schools.  The 2024 4 
National Blue Ribbon Schools are raising the bar for our nation’s students, 5 
serving as models for effective teaching and intentional collaboration in 6 
their schools and communities. As we celebrate their achievements, let us 7 
look to these schools for inspiration as we champion education as the 8 
foundation of a brighter future for every child"; and 9 
 10 
 WHEREAS, McGehee Elementary School not only addresses academics but 11 
also addresses the students' social, emotional, and physical needs through 12 
endeavors such as the provision of needed clothing, food, and assistance at 13 
Christmas, mental health referrals, and extra school guidance counselors; and 14 
 15 
 WHEREAS, McGehee Elementary School utilizes a systemic approach to 16 
address a student's academic deficits, including tutoring, interventions, 17 
inclusive practices, high -quality instructional materials, and highly 18 
effective teachers; and 19 
 20 
 WHEREAS, in addition, McGehee Elementary School emphasizes reading and 21 
focuses on promoting literacy with not only the students but also with their 22 
parents and the community; and 23 
 24 
 WHEREAS, McGehee Elementary School is a community and family -oriented 25 
school, using all funding and available resources to accomplish outstanding 26 
student achievement and growth while also holistically addressing the needs 27 
of the child; and 28 
 29 
 WHEREAS, McGehee Elementary School has a student population of five 30 
hundred forty (540) in kindergarten through grade five (K -5); and 31 
 32 
 WHEREAS, the students and staff of McGehee Elementary School deserve to 33 
be recognized for their hard work and dedication to education that led to 34 
this incredible achievement, 35

NOW THEREFORE, 1 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY -FIFTH GENERAL 2 
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS: 3

 THAT the House of Representatives recognize McGehee Elementary School 5 
as an Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing Schools National Blue Ribbon School 6 
in 2024. 7 
 8 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption, a copy of this resolution shall be 9 
provided to McGehee Elementary School Principal Elizabeth Robinson by the 10 
Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives. 11
