Stricken language would be deleted from and underlined language would be added to present law. *JMB010* 01/14/2025 2:28:58 PM JMB010 State of Arkansas 1 95th General Assembly A Bill 2 Regular Session, 2025 SENATE BILL 68 3 4 By: Senator Hill 5 By: Representatives Vaught, Painter 6 7 For An Act To Be Entitled 8 AN ACT TO ALLOW VETERINARY TECHNICIANS, VETERINARY 9 TECHNOLOGISTS, AND VETERINARY TECHNICIAN SPECIALISTS 10 TO GO TO A LOCATION OTHER THAN THE LOCATION OF THE 11 SUPERVISING VETERINARIAN TO PROVIDE SERVICES BASED ON 12 AN EMERGENCY CALL; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 13 14 15 Subtitle 16 TO ALLOW VETERINARY TECHNICIANS, 17 VETERINARY TECHNOLOGISTS, AND VETERINARY 18 TECHNICIAN SPECIALISTS TO GO TO A 19 LOCATION OTHER THAN THE LOCATION OF THE 20 SUPERVISING VETERINARIAN TO PROVIDE 21 SERVICES BASED ON AN EMERGENCY CALL. 22 23 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS: 24 25 SECTION 1. Arkansas Code § 17 -101-306(d)(3), concerning indirect 26 supervision of veterinary technicians and veterinary technologists by a 27 veterinarian, is amended to read as follows: 28 (3)(A) A veterinarian who utilizes indirect supervision of a 29 veterinary technician or veterinary technologist shall: 30 (A)(i) Retain control of and authority over the care of 31 the animal; and 32 (B)(ii) Review all recordkeeping and notes documented by 33 the veterinary technician or veterinary technologist on the charts regarding 34 the care of the animal. 35 (B) When utilizing indirect supervision, a supervising 36 SB68 2 01/14/2025 2:28:58 PM JMB010 veterinarian may authorize a veterinary technician or veterinary technologist 1 to go to a location other than the location of the supervising veterinarian 2 to provide services based on an emergency call for an animal patient. 3 4 SECTION 2. Arkansas Code § 17 -101-319(b)(3), concerning indirect 5 supervision of veterinary technician specialists by a veterinarian, is 6 amended to read as follows: 7 (3)(A) A veterinarian who utilizes indirect supervision of a 8 veterinary technician specialist shall: 9 (A)(i) Retain control of and authority over the care of 10 the animal patient; and 11 (B)(ii) Review all record keeping and notes documented by 12 the veterinary technician specialist on the charts regarding the care of the 13 animal patient. 14 (B) When utilizing indirect supervision, a supervising 15 veterinarian may authorize a veterinary technician specialist to go to a 16 location other than the location of the supervising veterinarian to provide 17 services based on an emergency call for an animal patient. 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36
