AS SCOUTING DAY AT THE STATE CAPITOL. 15

WHEREAS, Scouting was first established by Englishman Lord Robert 17
Baden-Powell in 1908, and the Boy Scouts of America, the first scouting 18
organization in the United States, was established in the United States on 19
February 8, 1910; and 20
21
WHEREAS, since day one (1), Scouting has espoused the Scout Oath and 22
the twelve (12) points of the Scout Law establishing that a Scout is 23
Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, 24
Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent; and 25
26
WHEREAS, Scouting includes character development programs such as Cub 27
Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturing, Sea Scouts, and Exploring that prepare young 28
people through career exploration and skills enrichment programs; and 29
30
WHEREAS, Scouting today exists in two hundred sixteen (216) countries 31
and territories and has fifty million (50,000,000) members worldwide; and 32

WHEREAS, Scouting's highest honor, the Eagle Scout award, has instilled 34
in numerous participants a love of service and leadership, including former 35
Presidents of the United States, former Governors of Arkansas, judges, 36 SR41

astronauts, film producers, and many others; and 1

WHEREAS, the Natural State Council has recently united with neighboring 3
Scouting councils to form a near one -state council for greater service and 4
program opportunities statewide, 5

NOW THEREFORE, 7
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY -FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE 8
STATE OF ARKANSAS: 9

THAT the Senate recognize Wednesday, March 12, 2025, as Scouting Day at 11
the State Capitol. 12
