4A STATE CHAMPIONS. 16

WHEREAS, the Gravette High School Lions wrestling team won the 2025 18
Class 4A state championship held February 28 and March 1, 2025, at the Jack 19
Stephens Center at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock; and 20
21
WHEREAS, this was a back -to-back state championship win for the Lions, 22
reflecting their discipline, preparation, and teamwork that have defined the 23
program since it began just four (4) years ago; and 24
25
WHEREAS, the Lions won the championship with one hundred seventy -four 26
(174.0) points and twenty (20) pins, and ranked as the high point team in all 27
classes; and 28
29
WHEREAS, the Lions finished the season with an overall record of 30
sixteen wins and seven losses (16 -7) and a Class 4A conference record of 31
eleven wins and one loss (11 -1); and 32

WHEREAS, Lions team members include seniors Logan Miller, Kelton 34
McDougal, Aiden Holloway, Jacob Gaylord, Eli Keith, Cutter Franks, Jackson 35
Patton, Tasi Benavente, and Litzy Garcia, juniors Porter Bird, Logan Wolf, 36 SR60

and Nadiyah Thornton, sophomore Payton Burnett, Jacob Worley, and Matua 1
Benavente, and freshman Jackson Moretto as well as managers Cameron Moore, 2
Keira Ralph, Emma Ensor, Karlie Tucker, Josie Harris, and Marly Miller; and 3

WHEREAS, senior Logan Miller earned the rank of Champion at the state 5
tournament; and 6
7
WHEREAS, upon the championship win, after battling a knee injury 8
throughout the tournament, Logan Miller joined an elite group of only 9
thirteen (13) Arkansas wrestlers to win four (4) state championships; and 10

WHEREAS, Logan Miller had thirty -eight wins and six losses (38 -6) 12
during the season, and finished his high school career with an overall record 13
of one hundred thirty -five wins and twenty -seven losses (135-27); and 14
15
WHEREAS, eleven (11) Lions team members earned All -State Honors at the 16
championship, with standout contributions from Payton Burnett, Kelton 17
McDougal, Eli Keith, Jacob Worley, Jackson Patton, Cutter Franks, Jacob 18
Gaylord, Logan Wolf, Tasi Benavente, and Porter Bird; and 19
20
WHEREAS, Kelton McDougal and Jackson Patton earned runner -up finishes; 21
and 22
23
WHEREAS, Payton Burnett, Eli Keith, Cutter Franks, Jacob Gaylord, Tasi 24
Benavente, Jackson Moretto, and Porter Bird earned third -place medals; and 25
26
WHEREAS, Logan Wolf was a fourth place finisher; and 27

WHEREAS, the Lions were led by Coaches A.J. Herrlein, Chris Weller, 29
Greg Miller, and B.J. Herrlein as well as trainer Bry McLaughlin; and 30

WHEREAS, Coach A.J. Herrlein said of the season and the win, "This 32
championship means so much because of what it took to get here. Every 33
wrestler on this team played a role in getting us to the top", 34

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE 1
STATE OF ARKANSAS: 2

THAT the Senate recognize the Gravette High School Lions wrestling team 4
as the 2025 Class 4A state champions. 5

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption, a copy of this resolution be 7
presented to Coach A.J. Herrlein by the Secretary of the Senate. 8
