(TEXT OF BILL BEGINS ON NEXT PAGE) Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona: Section 1. Appropriation; department of child safety; kinship care; intent A. The sum of $19,811,200 is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2022-2023 to the department of child safety to use for a stipend of $300 per month per child for a relative caretaker, including a grandparent, a member of the child's extended family or a person who has a significant relationship with the child, if a child in the care and custody of the department is placed in the kinship foster care of the relative caretaker, extended family member or person with a significant relationship with the child pursuant to department guidelines. The kinship foster care parent is not required to file an application to receive the stipend. B. The legislature intends that the appropriation made in subsection A of this section be considered ongoing funding in future years. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona: Section 1.
