Overview
Expands the ability of the Arizona Office of Tourism (AOT) to use promotional material and
intellectual property.
History
AOT is led by a Director, who is responsible for promoting tourism and developing publicity
campaigns that are related to tourism and are distributed through various state, national and
international media (A.R.S. § 41-2302).
In addition to these duties, AOT is specifically required to conduct various forms of tourism
research and develop programs to promote tourism in Arizona. AOT is allowed to charge
reasonable fees, set by the Director, for services and publications (A.R.S. § 41-2305).
Provisions
1. Allows AOT to produce, own, sell or license services or personal property related to AOT's
goals, limited to marketing- and branding-related promotional materials and intellectual
property. (Sec. 1)
2. Permits AOT to charge reasonable prices, rather than reasonable fees, for the use of its items.
(Sec. 1)
3. Establishes the Tourism Development Fund (Fund) consisting of revenues from AOT's duties
and powers which is continuously appropriated for supporting tourism marketing and
branding. (Sec. 2)
4. Requires AOT, beginning in FY 2025, to report to the Joint Legislative Budget Committee on
the monies in the Fund and expenditures from the Fund made in the previous fiscal year.
(Sec. 2)
5. Makes technical changes. (Sec. 1)
