Overview 
Establishes the Local Immigration Enforcement Reimbursement Fund (Fund). Appropriates 
$30,000,000 in FY 2023 from the state General Fund (GF) to the Fund.  
History 
Under federal law, the United States Attorney General may enter into a voluntary agreement to 
allow an officer or employee of a state or local government, at the expense of the state or local 
government, to perform the functions of an immigration officer in relation to the investigation, 
apprehension or detention of aliens in the United States (8 United States Code § 1357(g)).  
Provisions 
1. Establishes the Fund consisting of legislative appropriations and private donations. (Sec. 1) 
2. States that the Fund is administered by the Arizona Department of Homeland Security and 
monies are exempt from lapsing. (Sec. 1) 
3. Authorizes the Fund to be used to reimburse a county or local law enforcement agency for 
costs from participating in a program with the United States Immigration and Customs 
Enforcement. (Sec. 1) 
4. Appropriates $30,000,000 in FY 2023 from the state GF to the Fund. (Sec. 2)
