ARIZONA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
Fifty-fifth Legislature
Second Regular Session

HB 2610: G&F; permits; tags; transfers
Sponsor: Representative Burges, LD 1
Committee on Natural Resources, Energy & Water
Overview
Allows big game permits (or tags) to be transferred to approved non-profit organizations for use
by veterans with disabilities, regardless of whether those disabilities are service-connected, and
gold star children.
History
To hunt big game, such as wild turkey, deer and elk, a hunter must have a hunting license and
apply for and receive a big game permit through the Arizona Game and Fish Department’s
computerized selection process. A hunter who takes big game must attach the permit to the
harvested animal.
Big game permits are only transferrable in specific circumstances. The Arizona Game and Fish
Commission has an application process to allow a person to transfer a big game permit to an
approved non-profit organization for use by:
1) A child with a life-threatening medical condition or physical disability; or
2) A veteran who has a service-connected disability.
A parent, grandparent or legal guardian can also let their minor child use their big game permit.
Any child under 14 who receives a transferred big game permit must complete an approved hunter
education course (A.R.S. § 17-332).
