HB 2668: county salaries; approval

Overview 
Requires the county board of supervisors (board) to approve an increase in any county officer 
salary prescribed in statute. 
History 
A person who desires to be a county officer must, at the time of election or appointment, be at 
least 18 years of age, a resident of the state, an elector of the county or precinct for such office 
and able to read and write the English language.  The board is the sole judge of such qualifications 
of the candidates for county officers (A.R.S. § 11-402). 
Provisions 
1. Directs the board in each county to approve an increase in any of the following county officer 
salaries: 
a) Attorney; 
b) Assessor; 
c) Recorder; 
d) Sheriff; 
e) Superintendent of schools; 
f) Supervisors; and 
g) Treasurer. (Sec. 1) 
2. Authorizes the board, if there is an increase in the prescribed county officer salaries, to 
approve a lesser amount than that increase. (Sec. 1) 
3. Specifies that the approved amount may not be less than the officer's current salary. (Sec. 1)
