Overview
Allows insurers acting as an insurer or performing administrative services to receive payment for
benefits as an assignee to an assignment of benefits.
History
An assignment of benefits is a document signed by a policyholder that allows a third party, the
assignee, to receive payments for services directly from the policyholder's insurance company.
Pursuant to A.R.S. § 20-464, if an insured person assigns payment for benefits under the health
care insurance contract to a heath care provider that performed the services covered by the
contract the insurer may provide payment directly to the provider. Statute prohibits payment for
services to a person other than the one to whom payment has been assigned.
Provisions
1. Applies statutory provisions relating to assignment of benefits to an insurer whether acting as
an insurer or performing administrative services. (Sec. 1)
