SB 1041 Initials FK Page 1 Military Affairs & Public Safety ARIZONA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES Fifty-fifth Legislature Second Regular Session SB 1041: appropriation; hyperbaric oxygen therapy; veterans Sponsor: Senator Rogers, LD 6 Committee on Military Affairs & Public Safety Overview Appropriates monies from the state General Fund (GF) in FY 2023 to the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for Military Veterans Fund (Fund). History The Fund, administered by the Department of Veterans' Services (DVS), is continuously appropriated and non-lapsing (A.R.S. 41-610.01). Monies in the Fund must be used to provide financial assistance to veterans for hyperbaric oxygen therapy (A.R.S. 41-610.01). DVS may seek reimbursement, by private insurance, of funds spent to pay for hyperbaric oxygen therapy for a veteran if DVS discovers the therapy was fully or partially covered by private insurance (A.R.S. 41-610.01). Hyperbaric oxygen therapy involves breathing 100 percent oxygen while in a hyperbaric chamber. The air pressure inside is raised to a level that is higher than normal air pressure. The increased air pressure in the chamber helps the lungs collect more oxygen (FDA). Provisions 1. Appropriates $3,640,000 from the GF in FY 2023 to the Fund.
